ECE Conference Prizes and Special Issue
ECE 2011 committee are delighted to have offers of prizes from Emerald, Elsevier and Dwelltime, and the opportunity for selected papers to appear in a Special Issue of PESTLHE .

Frances Bell and Moira McLoughlin (Editors of Full Papers track at ECE 2011) shortlisted papers for each prize and for the Special Issue.
 
Emerald Best Paper prizes
Emerald Group Publishing have selected 2 papers from our shortlist and the prizes will be awarded at the Conference Dinner on Thursday. The prize is a one year free subscription to a journal, an award certificate and publication in the journal subject to peer review.   Shortlisted papers are:
Carolyn Dickie, David Pick and Theodora Issa. Leveraging learning experiences to promote student engagement in a business ethics class

Rachael Jacobs. Aesthetic development in pre-service teacher education: An interdisciplinary dialogue

Clive Holtham and Allan Owens. Using the urban to span the boundaries between diverse disciplines: Drama Education and Business Management

Elsevier Best Paper in Healthcare Education Prize
Karen Holland ( editor of Nurse Education in Practice), Frances Bell and Moira Mc Loughlin selected the Elsevier winning paper to be awarded at the Conference Dinner on Thursday. The prize will be a year’s subscription to two Elsevier journals of the winner’s choice.  Shortlisted papers are:
Amanda Lees and Rosemary Godbold. Engaging ethics education - exploring the potential of the Values Exchange decision making software: A case study.

Debbie Roberts and Richard Talbot. Learning to Act Like a Nurse.

Ricardo Simeoni. Positive student outcomes achieved within a large-cohort health foundation year course in the face of a changing and challenging educational environment.
Dwelltime Best paper on the use of the web and emerging technologies in education and Pecha Kucha Prizes
The award of this £250 Dwelltime best paper prize was based on
Helen Keegan, Frances Bell and Moira Mc Loughlin selected the winning paper from the shortlist  to be awarded at the Conference Dinner on Thursday.

Karen Mc Cullagh. Click happy?: an analysis of the use of an Electronic Voting System (EVS) in large group lectures to improve interaction and engagement

Amanda Lees and Rosemary Godbold. Engaging ethics education - exploring the potential of the Values Exchange decision making software: A case study.
The £250 Pecha Kucha prize will be awarded to the best performance of a Pecha Kucha, judged by a panel.
PESTLHE Special Issue
(edited by Frances Bell, Jaye McIsaac, and Moira Mc Loughlin)
Sixteen papers have been sent to PESTLHE for consideration by their reviewing team.  The papers chosen for the Special Issue will be announced by the end of the Conference, and the papers will be revised and published in August 2011. Shortlisted papers:
